As Manager of Corporate and Industrial Design for Canada Post Corporation, I worked for 7 1/2 years as the sole Industrial Designer for a corporation of 60,000 employees and was responsible for projects throughout the country.

During the period of my employ, a task group was formed to look into the growing problem of letter delivery to new and suburban communities. The reality was that letter carrier service was no longer a financially viable option as new communities were created and a more cost-efficient delivery system was needed.

Once the problem and challenges had been identified, a new delivery method was conceived and new hardware was designed. Initially a part of the "problem definition group", I then worked, with a number of draftsmen, to design the new Community Mail Box, also known as the Supermailbox.

Ultimately, the unit had to be designed twice: the first design tested the operational aspects of mail delivery, while the second design focused on mass production of the units.
